Don’t Give Up : 8 Steps to Success.

Most people who fail to achieve success online do so because they give up too soon. As in any business you have to put in the hard yards before the rewards will start to come.  Remember you can make money and you can make excuses but you can’t make both.

There will be a great deal of time put into research and planning before you can even get started.

Then there will be an ongoing investment of time and money.

So here is a step by step guide of what you need to do.  Pretend its like a ladder. If you miss a step you risk falling to the bottom and have to start over.  The best place to begin climbing a ladder very obviously is the bottom rung.

Step 1.

Decide what business model you want to follow.   This will require looking at options, reading reviews and check out comparative costs to get started and ongoing costs. Have a good idea of who your target market will be.

Step 2.

Learn all you can about your chosen business model. Be educated, do the online tutorials, ask questions, even those questions you might feel silly asking. Leave no stone unturned as far as getting familiar with your business  Perhaps your biggest investment will be your education. Surround yourself with like-minded people, they will inspire and encourage you.  The more you learn the more you earn.

Step 3.

Determine your financial and lifestyle goals which you hope to achieve through building your new business.  Make sure your goals are realistic and achievable. You can always update them later. I have seen people put down ridiculous goals of wanting to achieve six figure incomes in their first month. This is not realistic, it may by some freak chance happen but it is not realistic.   Write your goals down and put them somewhere you can view them every day to help  you stay focused.

Step 4

Write a business Plan.   It has often been said that if you fail to plan you by default plan to fail.  Don’t let that be your story. Have a written plan for your business and put it on the wall in front of your computer, next to your goals.

Step 5.

Build a website. This is essential and if you can’t do it yourself you can outsource the labour to do it for you through sites like Fiverr . They are called virtual assistants and you can employ qualified people for under $10 per hour to save you time and money.   Here is a link that might be helpful: Virtual Assistant    .Your website needs to be responsive on all devices and must have an opt in page where you can communicate with and follow up on interested  people.

Step 6

Build a landing page with a lead magnet. This will be a single page which offers a carrot, some special bonus, like a book or a discount or a gift of some sort Be creative. Make this page responsive on all devices too.  It may start as an introductory offer or one time offer. This is a lead magnet to get people to sign up and build your customer base. Step 7

Continue to build your customer base or email list and engage with them. For this you need an auto responder because once your customer base begins to grow you can’t possible hope to keep up with all the emails yourself.  An autoresponder is a computer program that automatically answers e-mail sent to it. They can be very simple or quite complex.  Get Response and aweber and mail chimp are some that come to mind

Step 8

Write a blog and keep updating it at regular intervals with relative content. There are a couple of reasons for doing this. one is to keep your customer base informed of updates and the other is to keep the search engines happy.  If you have a physical business it would soon fail if you did not pay attention to its appearance and the relationship between customer and staff.  You will need from time to time rearrange the furniture, give it a total revamp  and always be keeping it clean. Your online business once up and running will be no different.

Make sure you have a connection to social media. Here are a few social media statistics which after examining I am sure you will be convinced they are a necessary part of growing a business.

Pinterest has 150 million active users of these 85 % are female and 87 % have purchased a product on the site. Pinterest has captured around 41% of ecommerce traffic.

Linked in has 467 million users and 1 in every 3 are professionals. Over 25 million profiles are viewed every day.  79% of Link in users are over 35 years of age.

You Tube

The total number of people who use YouTube – 1,300,000,000,  300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute!  Almost 5 billion videos are watched on Youtube every single day. YouTube gets over 30 million visitors per day
